Love & Other Words - Book Review

I have only heard great things about Christina Lauren's books, and Ben bought me this book for Valentine's Day this year. I started the book and immediately knew I wasn't going to be able to stop reading.

First things first, I gave the book 4.8/5 stars! This review contains SPOILERS, so read ahead at your own risk. Here we go!

I love a good dual timeline book, and this one was great. Love & Other Words features Macy and Elliot, two best friends who had a big falling out when they were younger. One day, Macy sees Elliot in a coffee shop, and it's like she's seen a ghost. Elliot doesn't miss a beat and is ready to secure her back in his life. The two begin building their friendship again and there are many complications. Can Macy trust Elliot? Is Elliot able to love again without having his heart broke? Christina Lauren killed it with this book.

Honestly, this book reminded me of Every Summer After by Carley Fortune, and I loved that book. Macy has incredible strength, and she's someone you cannot help but admire. She lost both her parents and secluded herself for years grieving. Elliot is, wow. Kind of a mix of a quirky, lovestruck boy and compassionate, overprotective man. He wears his heart on his sleeve and loves Macy deeply. When he broke up with his girlfriend the day he saw Macy, I was blown away. A bit overeager, but kind of cute at the same time. I loved their friendship, their families, their friends, bond with books and words. I loved it all. Beautifully done and I wish I could read it all over again for the first time.
